Movement on the reformer to me is more than just exercise. It is a tool for strengthening your body, improving flexibility, ROM and enhancing overall mindbody connection.

I love a lunge. If you haven’t noticed! Lunges are a highly effective exercise & when using a reformer the options are endless. Lunges target multiple different muscle groups, improve balance, stability, mobility, they enhance our functional strength and so much more. Keep lunging!

It’s never the same. We don’t feel the same every day, and I love that the reformer reflects that. It gives you space to explore ~ some days you need strength, some days control, or just a moment to reconnect. It’s a different experience every time, but the challenge always finds you.

Plank ~ always, and side plank better. But I love a good drop set and combo ~ heavy legs into light burns, or the kind of upper body flow that makes you question everything mid-set. I love building intensity and watching clients surprise themselves by pushing through.

It’s the slow and controlled movements for me and the options to make it work for our bodies (heavier or lighter). I love the total body workout the reformer can give you and slowing down those movements really helps with that mind/body connection.

Sphinx push up is my favourite move to teach and do in class! I love seeing the progression of my regulars as they get stronger and stronger each time we do it in class and seeing the satisfaction when they really nail the move.

Pilates was the first form of exercise that truly clicked for me. It’s no longer something I have to do—it’s something I want to do. The reformer challenges me while also giving me space to slow down, focus, and feel connected to my body. It grounds me, energises me, and I feel like the strongest version of myself, physically and mentally.

Anything with a scooter is a favorite of mine! The slow, controlled burn through the legs is unbeatable, and I love how it combines strength, balance, and endurance.

Personally, it’s a love affair. I fell in love with reformer Pilates immediately. I’m not very coordinated but I could follow the movements on the reformer
It’s challenging yet achievable but at the same time it continues to ask yourself to go little further, a little more precise, challenge yourself even more.
I also love how reformer has evolved from Joseph Pilates’ original set repertoire to incorporate other forms of movement, especially functional movement. Plus, reformer Pilates is now accessible to many, which is amazing.

Hmmm this is a tough one to answer.
Bent leg/straight leg kickback series on the box. It works every single muscle in your body and questions your will to live.
Equally love teaching a multilayered core series.

The reformer allows for intentional, creative movement which is so crucial for my productivity and mental health, and I love sharing this passion with others! The reformer is simultaneously a place to decompress and challenge myself. I love classes as the energy of the Peak community is so welcoming and invigorating.

Movement on the reformer is about intention. The intention to slow down, move with purpose, engage our body and breath while moving into areas of our body that other disciplines don’t always have the ease or ability to access and refine.

Standing side splits is a personal favourite to teach as it encourages clients to embody both control and mindfulness of Pilates. Incorporating breath, body and purposeful movement while being part of clients’ confidence and progression in both balance and strength is encouraging.

I love planks - any and all variations. When done right they challenge so many muscle groups. My favourite way to cue plank is to squeeze everything really tight, hold on and pray!

Movement on the reformer, to me, is more than just physical exercise. It connects my body and mind. The rhythm of breath and movement lead to a sense of calm focus, much needed after a long busy day in a clinical workspace.

My favourite move to teach on the reformer is a side standing series, layering standing splits, squats, scooters, and of course lots of pulses. I love this because there’s so much variety to it, allowing us to combine the movements and use props like hand weights, the magic circle or the small ball.

For me, movement on the reformer is all about connection. It’s not just about doing an exercise — it’s about syncing the body and mind so they work as one. Every push, pull, and stretch helps me feel how different muscles communicate with each other. It’s like creating a conversation between strength, stability, and flow. And then there’s the reformer itself — it becomes an extension of the body, supporting, challenging, and guiding us to move with more awareness and control.
 -

Definitely a curtsy lunge — or really, any variation of lunges. I love how they fire up the glutes and legs with that delicious, spicy burn that everyone love to hate. It’s one of those moves that feels challenging in the moment but so rewarding after. Plus, lunges are versatile — can layer them with balance, core engagement, or add props to keep things fun and fresh.

Even though I constantly mess up my left and right when I’m teaching (seriously, it’s a running joke at this point), I promise I do know the difference! It just comes out wrong in the moment. My brain and mouth don’t always sync up — which is kind of ironic for a Pilates instructor, right? But hey, it keeps class fun and everyone on their toes.

I first started pilates mid-way through high school and since then I haven’t found any other form of exercise as all-round and versatile. The overall physical benefits of reformer like improved posture, flexibility and mobility as well as mind-body awareness are reasons why you may join your first class but what keeps you coming back every week to every few days is not only how your body feels but how it cares for YOU. For younger me, this felt like the excitement and satisfaction I felt at 3:15 pm after school when I know that I have pilates at 5pm, knowing that these 50 mins are tangible proof that I’ll take care of her first before homework is taken care of. Now, this anticipation remains after work, after errands, cleaning and assignments. Movements on the reformer grow with me, and while each exercise targets different muscles, each movement on the reformer reminds me that all of me is tended to.

I love a good side lunge. The carriages moving in sync with the music (and this is so subconscious when you’re in class) is why I try to choose a good-paced song for this exercise. Beautiful arm movements, upper body twists and scooters, just perfection. Legs are shaking and glutes are burning but everyone still manages to keep their lunges in time with the beats!

For me, the Reformer is so much more than a piece of Pilates equipment — it’s an incredible therapy tool. It allows clients to work both sides of their body more evenly, helping reduce muscle imbalances that often come from side dominance in traditional bilateral exercises. But beyond the physical, I see it as a tool for mental wellbeing too. A focused, strength-based session (which is my passion!) leaves people not just stronger, but feeling accomplished, positive, and uplifted.

absolutely love teaching the Teaser. It’s such a beautiful, flowing movement that challenges the core — and I have to admit, ab work is my favourite part of any session! The Teaser isn’t overly technical, which means clients can really connect with their bodies and feel confident as they master a classic piece of the Pilates repertoire.
